Preparing for Your Newborn Session
Newborn sessions work best within the first 14 days, when babies are still beautifully sleepy and curly. Here's how to prepare:
Timing
Please contact me within 24 hours of birth so we can book a date. I keep my newborn diary flexible to accommodate little ones who arrive early or late.
Feeding
A full baby is a sleepy baby. Feed your little one right before or at the start of the session. If you're breastfeeding, I can capture some beautiful feeding images too if you'd like.
Room temperature
I'll need the room to be warm — around 24°C. Newborns feel the cold quickly, and a warm room helps them stay settled and sleepy.
White noise
If you have a white noise machine or app, have it ready. The familiar shushing sound helps babies relax during the session.
Don't tidy up
Seriously. I photograph your home as it is — the Moses basket in the living room, the tiny clothes on the radiator, the cup of tea going cold on the side. This is real life, and it's beautiful.
Siblings
If you have older children, I'll photograph them first while they're at their most cooperative. After that, they're free to play or watch a film while I focus on the newborn.
Relax
The most important thing is that you're rested (as much as possible!) and relaxed. I'll guide everything. Your only job is to enjoy the moment.
