FAQ

The things people actually ask.

Booking a photographer can come with a hundred small questions. Here are the ones that come up most often. If yours isn't covered, just ask.

Booking

Getting in the diary

How do I book a session?

Pick the session type you'd like from the website, choose a date and time, fill in a few details, sign the contract, and pay your retainer (or full fee). It all happens in one place and takes about five minutes — no back and forth, no phone tag.

Can I hold a date without paying?

Dates are only secured once the retainer is in. If you've been chatting with me about a particular date and want a bit of time to confirm, just let me know and I'll do my best to hold things informally — but there's no formal hold without a deposit.

What if I need to reschedule?

Get in touch as soon as you know. I'll do everything I can to find a new date that works. The retainer carries over to the new booking; the specifics depend on how much notice you can give and what's causing the move — happy to talk it through.

What if I need to cancel?

Retainers are non-refundable — they secure your date and cover the time I've already put aside. The remaining balance is refundable on a sliding scale depending on notice, written into your contract. If life genuinely throws something at you, talk to me directly rather than relying on the small print — I'm a person, not a policy.

Do I have to know exactly what I want before I book?

Not at all. Send me a note about what you're imagining — a session type, a date if you have one, anything else you'd like me to know — and I'll come back to you, often with a personal quote already prepared. That quote arrives in your inbox with your price and a single Book Now button that opens straight to checkout when you're ready. We can chat back and forth as long as you need before that point. No pressure, no PDFs attached to half a dozen emails.

Before the shoot

Getting ready

What should I wear?

I'll send proper styling guidance once your session is booked, tailored to where we're shooting and the feel you want. As a starting rule: comfortable, well-fitting, nothing too loud or logo-heavy. Layers and textures photograph beautifully. Avoid anything you haven't worn before in case it's uncomfortable on the day.

What if the weather's rough?

For outdoor sessions I keep an eye on the forecast in the week running up. A bit of light rain or grey skies often works in our favour — soft light, atmosphere, moodier images. If conditions are genuinely going to ruin things (heavy rain, high winds, snow), I'll reach out and we'll move the date at no extra cost.

I've never had photos taken before — what should I expect?

Most people feel a bit awkward at first, and that's completely normal. My job is to guide you through it — where to stand, where to look, what to do with your hands. You don't need to know how to pose; you don't need to be a particular shape or size. Within ten minutes most clients have forgotten the camera is there.

After your session

Your gallery

When will my gallery be ready?

Turnaround depends on the session type and time of year, but I'll always give you a delivery date when you book and stick to it. You can see this on your client portal once your session is in.

How do I download my photos?

Your gallery arrives as a private link in an email. From there you can browse, favourite the ones you love, and download — either individually or as a single zip. No accounts, no faff.

How long is my gallery available?

Your link stays live for the window written into your session details (usually 60 days from delivery). Make sure to download what you want during that time — I'll send you a reminder before it closes.

Can I share them on social media?

Absolutely — please do. A tag is always appreciated but never required. The only ask is that you don't apply your own filters or edits to the images, as they've been carefully finished and re-editing changes the look I promised you.

What happens after my gallery arrives?

You don't have to do anything — but a few small, lovely things show up. A few days after delivery, a warm note lands asking how you're getting on with your photos. If you'd like a vertical share reel of your favourites (perfect for Stories or Reels), it's yours for the asking. On the day a year later, a quiet anniversary email arrives with a handful of images from your gallery — just to remind you where you were. Newborn families get one on baby's first birthday too. None of it asks anything of you; it just shows up.

Image upgrades

Buying extra photos

What if I want more than my included images?

Every session comes with a number of edited images included; if you want extras, you can either buy them individually from your gallery or unlock the full set in one go for a flat fee. Both options are right there in the gallery — no need to email back and forth.

Are the extras edited to the same standard?

Yes. Every image in your gallery has already been edited before delivery — whether you choose three or thirty, they've all had the same care.

Payments

Paying for your session

What payment options are there?

You can pay in full at booking, take a retainer-plus- balance plan, spread the cost across monthly instalments, or use Klarna or Clearpay — whichever options apply to your session show at checkout. The Ways to pay page walks through each in detail.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes — most sessions can be split over 3, 6, 9 or 12 gentle monthly instalments through an in-house payment plan (no fees, no credit check, just spread the cost). You can also use Klarna or Clearpay if those work better for how you already shop. Whichever you pick, your card saves at checkout and each payment settles itself on its due date — no last-minute reminders, no awkward chasing. You can clear the remaining balance early any time from your portal.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. All payments go through Stripe — your card details are never seen or stored on this website. Stripe is the same payment processor used by Boots, ASOS, and most other places you buy things online.

Can I pay off a payment plan early?

Yes — from your client portal you'll see a button to clear the remaining balance in one go. Useful if your circumstances change or you just want to have it all settled before the day.

Loyalty

Loyalty programme

How does the loyalty programme work?

You earn points for every booking, with a few extra ways to top up — referring a friend, leaving a testimonial, that sort of thing. Points convert into credit you can put toward a future session or against extra images on your gallery. Sign in to your portal to see your balance and what's available to redeem.

How do I redeem points?

Head to the loyalty page to see how the programme works and what rewards are available. Once you're signed in to your client portal you can pick a reward, generate the code, and use it at your next checkout.

Gift vouchers

Buying a session as a gift

Can I buy a session as a present?

Yes — vouchers are available in a few preset amounts or for the full cost of a specific session type. The recipient gets a voucher code by email; they can redeem it themselves when they're ready to book.

Do vouchers expire?

Vouchers are valid for twelve months from purchase. If the recipient needs a bit more time, just ask — I'd rather extend than have someone miss out.

Your images + privacy

How your photos are used

Will my photos appear on your website or social media?

Whether your images can be used to promote my work is covered in the contract you sign at booking — you can opt in or out at that point and change your mind at any time by getting in touch. If you're opted out, your photos stay private to you and your gallery.

How is my personal data stored?

The information you give at booking (name, email, phone, session details) is stored securely and used only for running your booking — communications, contracts, gallery delivery. It's never sold or shared with third parties. You can request a copy or deletion of your data at any time.
