What to Wear — Maternity Session

Your maternity session is all about celebrating you and your bump. What you wear should make you feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful. Here are my top tips:

Fitted over loose

Clothes that skim your bump photograph beautifully. A fitted dress, a snug top, or even a bodysuit shows off your shape in the most flattering way. Loose, baggy clothing hides the very thing we're celebrating.

Neutral and soft tones

Creams, taupes, sage greens, dusty pinks, and warm whites photograph timelessly. Bold patterns and bright logos can distract from the emotion of the image. Think 'soft' and 'elegant'.

Layers and textures

A flowing kimono, a sheer fabric draped over your shoulders, or a chunky knit cardigan adds depth and movement. Layers give us options during the session.

Comfort is everything

If you're uncomfortable, it shows. Choose fabrics that feel good against your skin. If your feet will be on show, a fresh pedicure is a lovely touch but absolutely not essential.

Partner coordination

If your partner is joining, coordinate without matching. If you're wearing cream, they might wear charcoal or navy. Same colour palette, different pieces.

Don't buy anything new (unless you want to)

Your favourite outfit that makes you feel amazing will always photograph better than something brand new that you're not sure about. Wear what you love.

Still not sure?

I send every client a detailed styling guide before their session, and I'm always happy to review outfit options over WhatsApp or email. You won't be on your own with this!
